It is the endeavour of Saveetha School of Engineering (SSE), to develop the creativity and holistic expertise of students from the first year. The curriculum and regulation is therefore designed to promote experiential and project based learning. At the time of inception in the year 2006, only three UG programmes (ECE, CSE and IT) were introduced. Later, the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was introduced in 2007, Department of Mechanical Engineering in 2009, Department of Civil Engineering in 2010, Department of Energy & Environmental Engineering and Automobile Engineering in 2013. From the year 2011, the institution has adopted a new regulation based on choice based credit system, in difference to the absolute mark based system followed since inception. The 2010 regulation included several innovative concepts to bridge the industry-academia-research gap. For instance, two compulsory industry internships during the course, one innovative project during each year to promote out-of-curriculum learning, enhanced lab hours and one lab for every theory subject, viva-voce examination for each subject in addition to the theory exams to promote technical oratory skills, scope to obtain Honours and dual degree specialization, scope to obtain credits for publication of research papers in peer reviewed journals are some of the highlights in the revised 2010 regulation. Also thirteen Post Graduate programmes in Engineering and PhD in all fields of Science, Humanities and Engineering are offered.
